Instructional Literacy Coach Leadership Academy Information

Thank you for your interest in the ILC Leadership Academy.  In order to apply, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Current SJCSD instructional employee
  • At least three years of teaching experience
  • Completion of at least two reading endorsement competencies OR reading endorsement OR reading certification

Please submit a completed application packet via school mail or email to the contact below by Friday, August 31, 2020.  This application should include the following:

  • ILC Application
  • Resume
  • Evidence of completion of at least two reading competencies, reading endorsement or reading certification
  • Letter of recommendation from your current principal emphasizing your skills as a teacher and your potential ability for leading teachers
  • A 1 page (double spaced) explanation about your professional goal as it relates to the ILC Leadership Academy

The ILC Leadership Academy cohort will receive monthly training (September – April), 4:15pm – 6:00pm at Fullerwood (kitchen area).  The content of these sessions is designed to give you an inside look at the ILC position.  It will include the correlations to the evaluation system for an ILC, best practices in reading and writing instruction, MTSS, adult learning, dyslexia, a book study with the Art of Coaching, interview tips and more.  In addition to preparing you for the future, this cohort will help you learn strategies on how to present in front of adults.  You will have the opportunity to present a short professional development session to the academy participants.  Additional information and meeting dates will be shared as applications are received.
