Welcome Letter

We would like to extend an invitation to all 6th – 12th grade students in St. Johns County, including public, home, charter, and private schools, to participate in the 2024-2025 Secondary STEM Fair. Homeschooled students are encouraged to participate in their zoned school’s fair. In most schools, STEM fair projects begin in August and September with fairs occurring in November. Contact your zoned school to learn more about deadlines and forms.

The St. Johns County Secondary STEM Fair began in 1978 as the River Region East Science Fair. This competition is a qualifying contest for projects to advance to the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair.

Project categories include Medicine and Health Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Intelligent Machines and Mathematics, Plant Sciences, Chemistry, Behavioral Sciences, and Environmental Sciences, amongst others. We reserve the right to combine categories.

At our regional fair, placement awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention) are presented by category, when appropriate. Placement for a top award does not guarantee that a student qualifies to compete at the state level. The regional fair’s judging team and scientific review committee determine if a project meets the requirements for competition at the state level and we invite those students to participate in the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair.  Many special awards are given, each using unique and specific award criteria.

All events will take place at First Coast Technical College, 2980 Collins Avenue, St. Augustine.

Monday, February 3,  2025, 2:00PM – 5:00PM:  Student set up of projects. Any student invited to participate in the fair must set up their project.

Tuesday, February 4, 2025, 8:00AM – noon (approximate):  Judging of student projects

Thursday, February 6, 2025, 6:30PM – Awards Ceremony

For more information about your school fair, please contact your science teacher.
