SJEA Bargaining Sessions

SJCSD and SJEA met on June 25, 2026 at St. Augustine High School in the media center.

SJCSD proposed:

SJCSD countered:

Both teams caucused.

SJEA countered:

SJEA and SJCSD were able to tentatively agree to:

SJCSD and SJEA reached an agreement for the allocation of the millage funds for the 2025-2026 school year and was ratified on February 13^, 2025, with 94.8% of the votes.

Years 0-5       $4500.00   Flat Rate

Years 6-10    $5172.00   1.0 supplement factor

Years 11-15  $6206.00   1.2 supplement factor

Years 16-20  $7241.00   1.4 supplement factor

Years 21+      $8275.00   1.6 supplement factor

This supplement will be paid out under the following conditions:

1. Regular full-time employees shall receive the full negotiated amount
2. Regular part-time employees shall receive half of the full-time employee amount.
3. Employees holding Part Time As Needed positions are not eligible for this supplement.
4. This payment is a supplement to the employee’s base pay and shall be treated as salary.
5. This salary supplement is FRS eligible in accordance with the law.
6. This salary supplement will be paid within the employee’s regularly scheduled paychecks.
7. Regular payments will be clearly identified on the employee’s pay stub.
8. If payments do not begin on the employee’s first paycheck of each contractual year, the employee will receive retroactive payment to July 1 of each fiscal year.
9. Employees who are returning from leave or who are newly hired and begin work after the start of their contractual year will receive a prorated share of the annual supplement.

• Any employee on a board approval leave of absence will not receive the supplement until they return to work and will receive a pro-rated share of the annual supplement.

• 0-5 years $5000.00
• 6-15 years $6000.00
• 16+ years $7,000
• A spreadsheet was given to SJEA to manipulate factors and base starting amounts.
• Goals:  To get the District and SJEA to agree on factors and base with our current projections of number of teachers and projected tax rolls-with the understanding we will have to reconvene in May/June to review number of teachers, the base and total tax revenue.

SJEA presented a counter proposal MOU Referendum SJEA Counter (002)

• We kept most of the original language.
• Changes to supplement calculations
• 0-5 years – $4,500.00 factor – 1.0
• 6-10 years – $5,400.00 factor – 1.20
• 11-15 years – $6,300.00 – factor – 1.40
• 16-20 years – $7,200 – factor – 1.60
• 21+ years – $8,100.00 – factor – 1.80
• Should the revenue exceed the initial estimates, the difference will be distributed to eligible employees will be paid in the final paycheck in June.

SJCSD – presented the spreadsheet which combined the 0-5 and 6-10 to 0-9 years with the same factors, difference 0-9 years will start at $5000.00.  The 21+ will start at $8,000.00 instead of $8,100.00.  We do agree with everyone about the veteran teacher and compensating them. We tried to get where you wanted to be, but there will be a squeeze to get there.  We have to protect all teachers.

Our goal tonight is to get the factors captured and then come back to the table for the language.  We need to research what other surrounding counties did with the remaining money at the end of the school year and what was your process on getting the remaining money to the employees.  We have time, the big piece is how much will I get?

SJEA and SJCSD could not come to an agreement, we will come back to the table in 2025.

No agreement was made on any of the Articles that were presented.  We did tentative agreed on the following which were grammatical errors:

Next session will be Wednesday, April 30 starting at 5:30PM.

First session for 2024-2025.  This first session between St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) and St. Johns Education Association (SJEA) was held at the Fullerwood Training Center with a 5:00PM start.  This year we will update the entire negotiated agreement which will be in effect for the next 3 years.

Wednesday, March 27, 2024.  This will be a combined meeting between St. Johns Education Association (SJEA), St. Johns Educational Support Professional Association (SJESPA) and St. Johns County School District (SJCSD).
