The district will provide assistance in completion of certification forms. Our office is open Monday through Friday 8:00 AM– 5:00 PM. Most new teachers will be required to take the General Knowledge exam, Professional Education exam and Subject Area exam. Please request a copy of your test results be sent to St. Johns County School District (#55). If you have already taken an examination, a copy of your results must be submitted to the St. Johns County School District Certification Department.
In St. Johns County, a teacher must pass all required sub-tests of the Florida General Knowledge exam no later than April 1st of the FIRST school year of employment. Failure to meet this requirement will result in non-reappointment. It is therefore, very important that you immediately reapply to take any part(s) of the examination which you may have failed. Please do not register for any course work for certification or re-certification that has not been approved by the Department of Education. Verify all course work with Florida Department of Education by calling 1-800-445-6739 with the course number, title of course, and name of college or university. Should your name or address change after your certificate has been issued please contact our Certification office to make proper changes. There is a processing fee of $20.00 if you wish to have a new certificate printed with new name information.
Note: in the course of normal re-certification, a name change is included at no extra cost.
