Curriculum Resources

Please email [email protected] if you would like to add to the list of valuable resources for home education families.

Academic Advisement & Choosing Curriculum-The parent/guardian becomes the “school of record” in Home Education and chooses the curriculum for their child. Per Florida Statute, we do not track or assign grade level or provide curriculum recommendations. We also do not provide school counseling services such as transcript review or tracking progress/advising on meeting graduation requirements for Home Education students since they do not receive a diploma. Please review the Florida Statute on Home Education to understand your responsibilities: Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine (state.fl.us)

*How to Register for Virtual Courses*

Note: You must submit an Intent to Home Educate here and be notified by the district Home Ed department of verification of enrollment prior to registering for courses. Virtual School audits enrollment. Students who register for virtual courses with no registration with their county Home Ed department can be immediately removed from their courses by the virtual school, regardless of their current progress in the course.

St. Johns Virtual School Courses: Home Education students can only participate in SJVS Part-Time. SJVS Full-Time students are not under Home Education and must complete a separate registration and application process under SJVS timelines. Make sure you choose Home School as your physical school and not your current zoned school or prior school. Home Education staff do not approve or advise virtual course selection, that is done by the parent.

If you would like your Home Education student to use the St Johns Virtual franchise of FLVS, Part- time registration documents and proof of residency need to be submitted to St. Johns Virtual.

Florida Virtual School Courses: Home Education students can only participate in FLVS Flex which is part-time. FLVS Full-Time students are not under Home Education and must complete a separate registration and application process under FLVS timelines. Make sure you choose Home School as your physical school and not your current zoned school or prior school. Home Education staff do not approve virtual courses, that is done by the parent.

Please note that the parent verifies courses: Parents must verify a student’s course request once a selection is made. To verify a request, log into your account and go to the student dashboard page. Click on the green checkmark next to the red “X” icon on the right-hand side of the page to complete the parent/guardian enrollment verification. Students do not have the verification feature within their own account, so you will need to verify all course requests before your student can begin a course. Once parent approvals have been completed, your student will be placed with the next available instructors. Please be sure to have your student monitor their account for placement information. Homeschool FAQs – FLVS
