Superintendent Search

Superintendent Tim Forson announced his retirement during a School Board Workshop on November 7, 2024. The workshop was held to begin the process of succession planning. Mr. Forson’s last day as superintendent will be June 30, 2025.

Succession planning was also discussed by the School Board during workshops on December 12, 2024 and January 13, 2025.

Shine Bright with the Best: College & Career Night 2026

On September 2, students and families came together at the World Golf Village Renaissance Conference Center for College & Career Night – an evening focused on exploring possibilities and planning for the future. More than 90 colleges, universities, businesses and organizations were on hand to connect directly with students, share information and introduce them to a wide range of opportunities after high school.

All Access with Dr. Asplen – Creekside High School

This edition of All Access with Dr. Asplen brings us to Creekside High School, with senior class president Bree McCoy leading the tour. Dr. Asplen sits in on an AP Seminar Capstone class, cheers on the band ahead of their trip to Chicago, and stops by the school’s TV production academy to meet its newest student anchors.

All Access with Dr Asplen – Julington Creek Elementary

In today’s All Access with Dr. Asplen, Principal Reichenberg takes us on a tour of Julington Creek Elementary. Dr. Asplen visits a new VPK class, joins kindergarten students for a game of Sparkle, checks out scooter hockey in P.E., and meets second graders portraying presidents and first ladies during their Hall of Presidents presentations.

All Access With Dr. Asplen – Pacetti Bay Middle School

This edition of All Access with Dr. Asplen takes us to Pacetti Bay Middle School, where students showcase their leadership and creativity through the WEB program and TV production, which produces the school’s daily news show. Dr. Asplen also enjoys performances from student vocalists and cheerleaders celebrating the school’s strong Wildcat spirit.

All Access With Dr. Asplen – Valley Ridge Academy

In today’s All Access, Dr. Asplen tours Valley Ridge Academy, where students are recognized through the school’s “BOB” (Be Our Best) character award program. Along the way, he and Principal Angie Fuller visit science and language arts classrooms to see students learning about cells through music and exploring figurative language, before wrapping up with a look at the school’s family literacy program that encourages reading at home.

On Wednesday, July 22, St. Johns County School District welcomed community leaders and members of the press to Magnolia Oaks Academy, a newly built state-of-the-art K-8 public school which will open its doors to students on August 10.

All Access With Dr. Asplen – Wards Creek Elementary School

This edition of All Access follows Superintendent Asplen on his tour of Wards Creek Elementary with Principal Kevin Klein. The school’s “Shine Your Light” initiative promotes leadership, integrity, growth mindset, heart, and teamwork, with students recognized through unique programs like a book vending machine. The tour also showcases social-emotional learning, inclusive classroom collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping every student succeed.

All Access with Dr. Asplen – Cunningham Creek Elementary School

This edition of All Access takes us inside Cunningham Creek Elementary School, where Principal McCool and Superintendent Asplen visit an ESE class, a STEAM class working with robots, and a second grade science class learning about magnetism. They also stop by the school’s SOAR Store, where students can cash in their positive behavior points.

All Access with Dr. Asplen – Webster Elementary School

Join Dr. Asplen on his tour of Webster Elementary School where students are moving their bodies in Ms. Verdell’s dance class and learning to program robots in the Media Center. We also get a first look at plans for an exciting new school expansion.

All Access with Dr. Asplen – Beachside High School

Join Dr. Asplen as he visits Beachside High School, where students in the Academy of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences are training to become certified veterinary assistants and preparing for careers in the field of biomedical science. Dr. Asplen also stops by a leadership class and participates in a discussion on leadership skills.
