Special Training for School District Nurses

On March 16 Flagler Hospital partnered with EPIC Behavioral Healthcare, St. Johns Sheriff’s Office, St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the Northeast Florida Healthcare Coalition to provide an all-day training for school district nurses that focused on new trends in health care for children with diabetes, the opioid epidemic, cyberbullying and the “Stop the Bleed Campaign” for trauma emergencies.

All agencies worked together to enhance the efficacy of emergency response/intervention at the school level through on-site nursing.  Several school nurses will be participating in an upcoming training opportunity in Orlando – Pediatric Emergencies: For Out-of-Hospital Providers.  This 8-hour training will review medical emergency concepts, rapid assessment and trauma, as well as psychosocial and behavioral emergencies.
