Science

Co-requisite: Geometry Honors or higher. Students will explore concepts of biology in depth. Topics include: Molecular and cellular biology, classification, heredity and evolution, ecosystems. Required science course for HS graduation, not offered at all middle schools. Students who complete this course will take the state end of course exam which comprises 30% of their grade for the year.

The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities to study concepts of the life, earth/space, and physical sciences, and their applications to everyday life.

Corequisite: M/J 6th grade Advanced Math. The purpose of this accelerated course is to provide opportunity for the student to study all 6th grade Advanced Science standards and half of the 8th grade Advanced Standards. Students will study concepts of life, earth/space and environmental science, and chemistry standards from grade 8. The course moves at an accelerated rate. Students who complete this course will take M/J Comprehensive Science 2 Accelerated if they are concurrently enrolled in Algebra 1 Honors in grade 7.

The Biology Honors State End of Course Exam, is taken at the end of the school year and constitutes 30% of the student grade for the year.
