Sports Participation

Home education students in St. Johns County may participate in sports at their zoned public school or any school in the district, provided they meet Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) standards, are registered with the district home education office, and submit required forms EL2, EL3, GA4, and EL7 to the school where they intend to participate. All eligibility forms are available on the FHSAA website under the PARENTS tab.

Key Requirements for St. Johns Home School Sports Participation:

  • Registration: Must be registered with St. Johns County School District Home Education Office.
  • Forms: Complete the EL7 (registration & verification) and GA4 (recruiting policy affidavit).
  • Physical: A current physical EL02 and consent form EL03 are required.
  • Location: Students are allowed to play at any St. Johns County School. The FHSAA Board of Directors establishes the dates in which the first day of allowable practice or tryouts can begin. These dates are published on the FHSAA website. Once a student athlete has participated in conditioning, tryouts, or practice, they have officially started that sport and may not participate in the same sport at another school during the same season, unless the student athlete meets the criteria of F.S. 1006.15(9)(b).
  • Academics: Must meet the same standards for interscholastic extracurricular activities as brick-and-mortar students.
  • PEP students: Must fill out the EL15 to register for athletic participation.
