St. Johns County Mathematics Curriculum
SJCSD follows Florida’s B.E.S.T Standards to ensure high quality math instruction and student achievement. Math instruction may include hands-on learning materials, collaborative group activities, and technology-enhanced lessons.
Middle School Math –
Courses Offered:
- 6th Grade Math
- 6th Accelerated Math
- 7th Grade Math
- 7th Accelerated Math
- 8th Grade Pre-Algebra
- Algebra 1 Honors (High School Credit)
- Geometry Honors (High School Credit)
Assessments
Students in middle school math courses (excluding Algebra 1 Honors and Geometry Honors) take the F.A.S.T Progress Monitoring Assessments three times per year.
- PM1 – Beginning of Year
- PM2 – Mid Year
- PM3 – End of Year
Students in Algebra 1 Honors or Geometry Honors will take a statewide End of Course (EOC) exam. This exam will count for 30% of their final course grade and this grade will be recorded on their high school transcript.
High School Math –
Graduation Requirements
Students must complete 4 math credits, including Algebra 1 and Geometry. Students enrolled in Algebra 1 or Geometry will take a statewide EOC Assessment which will count for 30% of their overall grade. Passing the Algebra 1 EOC is a graduation requirement.
