Art and Design covers a broad range of related activities, areas and approaches to study. All assessments follow the assessment objectives regardless of the chosen area of study. Centres can design their own course of study, by selecting from one of the following areas of study: Painting and Related Media, Sculpture, Printmaking, Textiles, Graphic Design, Ceramics, Fashion Design, Photography, Digital and Lens Media. For Components 2 and 3 candidates must specialize in one of the above areas. This list is not exhaustive and other areas of study – e.g. jewelery, puppetry – are quite acceptable. The following details are to be used for guidance only and are not prescriptive or comprehensive. The intention is for candidates to follow a field of study in research, development and realization, at some depth.
