The school district <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/zoning\/\">Attendance Zone Locator<\/a> <\/em> will identify the correct school.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Requirements for Children to Begin School<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><strong>1. Grade Placement<\/strong><i> <em>(Florida State Statute 1003.21)<\/em><\/i><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p><ul><li><strong>Voluntary Pre-K: <\/strong>A child must be four years old on or before September 1st.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Kindergarten:<\/strong> A child must be five years old on or before September 1st.<\/li><li><strong>First Grade:<\/strong> A child must be six years old on or before September 1st <strong>AND<\/strong> satisfy one of the following:<br \/><p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a)\u00a0Satisfactory completion of kindergarten in a Florida public school.<br \/>b) Satisfactory completion of kindergarten in a non-public school.<br \/>c) Previous attendance in an out-of-state school in which the student was admitted on the basis of age requirements established by the state of residency.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>2. Proof of Residency<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Certain documents will be required to prove residency.
