CHECK BACK FOR MORE INFORMATION SOON!
This site is to help you find and download the information you need to participate in this year’s science fairs. We would like to extend an invitation to all 6th – 12th grade students in St. Johns County, including public, home, charter and private schools, to participate.
The St Johns County Science fair began in 1978 as the River Region East Science Fair. This competition is a qualifying contest for projects to advance to the Florida State Science and Engineering Fair.
Students from any of the county’s middle or high schools, or home-schooled students of middle or high school age, are invited to participate in their school-level science fairs. Winners at the school science fairs may be selected by their schools to advance to the regional level.
Project categories at our fair include: Medicine and Health Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Plant Sciences, Chemistry, Behavioral Sciences, and Environmental Sciences, amongst others. We reserve the right to combine categories, based on the number of projects in each category and the number of judges available.
Category placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention) are presented for each category, when appropriate. Placement for a top award does not guarantee that a student qualifies to compete at the state level; the regional fair’s scientific review committee retains the option of determining if a project meets the requirements for competition at the state level. Many special awards are available—each of these has its own unique criteria and may or may not be linked to placement in a particular category.
