The St. Johns County School District (SJCSD) has received a Sunny Award for the third year in a row. This award is given to the most transparent government websites in the country by the editors of Sunshine Review. The SJCSD website received an A+ on a 10-point transparency checklist.
This year, the SJCSD is one of only 214 government websites out of 6,000 in the nation to receive the Sunny Award. It is also one of only 13 school districts in Florida to be selected.
“We are grateful for this recognition again as it remains a testament to the work of everyone within the school district,” said Superintendent Joseph Joyner. “It is paramount for taxpayers to know that we are a good steward of district resources and that they can trust the School Board to make good decisions.”
Editors looked at content available on government and school district websites against what should be provided. They sought information on items such as budgets, meetings, lobbying, financial audits, contracts, academic performance, public records and taxes.
This award coincides with Sunshine Week being observed this week, March 11-17.
