{"id":177,"date":"2019-12-17T09:35:28","date_gmt":"2019-12-17T14:35:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/mh-instruction2\/?page_id=177"},"modified":"2024-05-06T09:41:55","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T13:41:55","slug":"child-abuse","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/mental-health\/child-abuse\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Abuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Child abuse defined by\u00a0<a title=\"Florida State Statute 827.03, opens in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/Statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;URL=0800-0899\/0827\/Sections\/0827.03.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Florida State Statute 827.03<\/a>, is<\/p>\n<p><em>Intentional infliction of physical or mental injury upon a child; An intentional act that could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental injury to a child; or active encouragement of any person to commit an act that results or could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental injury to a child.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Florida Abuse Hotline<\/h2>\n<p><strong>If you suspect or know of a child or vulnerable adult in immediate danger, call 911<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any person who knows, or has reasonable cause to suspect, that a child is abused, abandoned, or neglected by a parent, legal custodian, caregiver, or other person responsible for the child&#8217;s welfare is a mandatory reporter.\u00a0<a title=\"\u00a7 39.201(1)(a), Florida Statutes, opens in a new window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.leg.state.fl.us\/Statutes\/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&amp;Search_String=&amp;URL=0000-0099\/0039\/Sections\/0039.201.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a7 39.201(1)(a), Florida Statutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Abuse Hotline accepts reports 24 hours a day and 7 days a week of known or suspected child abuse, neglect, or abandonment and reports of known or suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
