Human Resources Update – October 2019

The St. Johns County School District is the largest employer in St. Johns County. With over 5,200 full-time and part-time employees, the Human Resources Department stands ready to serve our administrators, teachers and support staff in whatever capacity needed.  The department includes Position Control, File Management and Onboarding, Employee Specialists covering certification and personnel, Benefits, Professional Development/Evaluations, Risk Management, and Leadership. Each of these areas work closely together to provide a wide range of services to our employees.

This year our District student population grew to 42,861 students. With a 4.3% student increase, Human Resources continues to be busy working with hiring authorities to recruit and hire new teachers and support staff. To date, we have hired approximately 384 teachers, 331 support personnel and 16 Administrative, Management, and Confidential Staff members and continue to work with schools on their open vacancies. Hiring numbers come from positions where teachers / support personnel have either retired or resigned and where the school is in need of growth positions.
