Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation<\/strong><\/a>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

VR has counselors who are specially trained to understand the needs and abilities of people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or Deaf-Blind, including counselors who use American Sign Language.<\/span><\/p>\n

They provide services to address hearing loss issues in the workplace, as well as guidance and counseling on how to cope with hearing loss. In addition, VR can provide interpreting services for job interviews and may provide employers and co-workers training on how to communicate with those who are Deaf.<\/span><\/p>\n

Transition: Local, State and National Links<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

DeafTEC<\/a>Minnesota Transition Guide for Teachers of Deaf\/Hard of Hearing<\/a><\/span> – Resource for schools and agencies involved in the lives of transition-aged students who are deaf or hard of hearing. It is intended to be utilized no later than 9th grade to assist parents and service providers in the early planning for transition from school programs to employment or postsecondary education. While designed for Minnesota, it is a helpful tool for students in other states.<\/span><\/p>\n

National Center on Secondary Education and Transition<\/a><\/span> – NCSET provides technical assistance and disseminates information focused on areas of national significance for youth with disabilities and their families related to transition. Links to numerous resources and references are provided.<\/span><\/p>\n

National Deaf Center on Postsecondary Outcomes<\/a> <\/u><\/span>– NDC is a technical assistance and dissemination center funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) through 2021.This website includes links to numerous online resources and data related to transition. <\/span><\/p>\n

National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT)<\/a> – <\/span>Umbrella organization to support post-secondary outcomes for all students with disabilities. NTACT’s purpose is to assist State Education Agencies, Local Education Agencies, State VR agencies, and VR service providers in implementing evidence-based and promising practices.<\/span><\/p>\n
