{"id":12,"date":"2015-02-25T11:55:45","date_gmt":"2015-02-25T16:55:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/cr\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2026-01-05T13:08:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T18:08:13","slug":"request","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/cr\/request\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Records Requests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Public records requests for the St. Johns County School District are made through the Community Relations Department.\u00a0You may request records\u00a0<strong><a href=\"#online\">online<\/a><\/strong>, by <strong><a href=\"#fax\">FAX<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"#fax\">mail<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"#fax\">phone<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<a href=\"#fax\"><strong>in person<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please note that transcripts are not public record<\/strong>. <em>To order transcripts, verification of graduation, immunization records, copy of school record, or ESE records, please visit the website of the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/records\/\"> Student Records Department<\/a><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The Florida Public Records Law authorizes the public to inspect, photograph and copy public records maintained by the St. Johns County School District. Public records are records made or received in connection with the District\u2019s official business. However, there are many statutory exemptions from public records disclosure, and some records are statutorily designated as confidential (student information, social security numbers, health care records, etc.). Before production, the requested records will be reviewed to ensure they are not confidential or exempt from public records disclosure. Exempt and confidential records will not be produced.<br \/>\n&#8211;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">District protocol requires the on-site records custodian, or the Community Relations Department as the custodian\u2019s designee, to review requested records to confirm they are subject to public disclosure under the Florida Public Records Law and to coordinate inspection and copying of the records. On-site custodians may elect to refer your request to the Community Relations Department for a\u00a0response as their designee.<br \/>\n&#8211;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Depending on the scope and nature of the request, there may be charges for research and copying. You will be notified of any such charges. Read the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjohns.k12.fl.us\/cr\/protocol\/\">Procedures and Guidelines for Charging Fees in Connection with Extensive Public Records Requests<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211;<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Requestors <strong>do not need to provide their name or provide a reason for their request<\/strong> in order to inspect, photograph or obtain copies of public records unless the request is being made at a school site. <strong>Requestors must follow all school sign-in procedures and be prepared to show identification if requesting records in person at a school.<\/strong> \u00a0If you wish to remain anonymous, you may request and pick up records in person at the District Administrative Building located at 40 Orange Street, or arrange with the community relations staff for delivery by email or another medium that does not require identification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Designation of Community Relations Staff<\/h2>\n<p>The Community Relations Department staff is designated as the District custodian&#8217;s designee to process public records requests. The designated staff member is Christina H. Upchurch. She may be reached by contacting the Community Relations Department at (904) 547-7637 or by emailing<strong><a href=\"mailto:sjpubrec@stjohns.k12.fl.us\"> sjpubrec@stjohns.k12.fl.us<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Procedures and Optional Public Records Request Forms\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>It is not necessary to use the District\u2019s optional public records request forms provided below.\u00a0 Those forms are optional and provided for convenience only.<\/strong>\u00a0 If you would prefer, you may request records orally or in writing without using the form.\u00a0 The District will process any such request in accordance with the Florida Public Records Law.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a name=\"online\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong> Submitting the Request\u00a0Online<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may request public records by email to the Community Relations Department.\u00a0 The optional online form below is provided for your convenience.\u00a0 You may complete the form and click the \u201cDone\u201d button at the bottom. Please note that these lists will not be available until the end of the first quarter (mid-October) for the current school year.
