Edith (Edie) Jarrell, assistant principal at Cunningham Creek Elementary, has been selected by Superintendent Joseph Joyner to be the Principal of Wards Creek Elementary. Her nomination will be presented to the St. Johns County School Board at their February 14 meeting.
She will replace Don Campbell, who was named the new Principal of Elementary “L” last month. Her appointment will be effective January 17.
“After carefully reviewing the input from staff and the community, it was very clear to me that Mrs. Jarrell was the perfect match to continue the excellence at Wards Creek,” said Superintendent Joseph Joyner. “She is an experienced administrator with a passion for education and a love for children. She will be an outstanding principal.”
Mrs. Jarrell has four years of experience in St. Johns County, serving as the Assistant Principal of Cunningham Creek Elementary. Previously, she has served as a teacher of all elementary grade levels as well as a Media Specialist and Assistant Principal in Duval County. She is certified in Exceptional Education, Information Studies and Library Science, Educational Leadership, and School Principalship.
“It is such an honor and privilege to join the Wards Creek family,” said Edie Jarrell. “I am so delighted to serve as the principal of this outstanding school. I look forward to getting to know the students and their families as well as the faculty, staff, and community members. Together, we will continue to provide an excellent educational experience for the children of the Wards Creek community.”
