Elementary Prevention Programs

Growing Healthy

Growing Healthy is the district adopted health and prevention curriculum for all St. Johns County elementary schools. This is a comprehensive curriculum that covers both health and prevention topics for grades K-5. The 10 modules include:

  • Growth and Development
  • Personal Health
  • Mental/Emotional Health
  • Family Life and Health
  • Nutrition
  • Disease Prevention and Control
  • Safety and First Aid
  • Consumer Health
  • Substance Use and Abuse
  • Community and Environmental Health Management
Middle School Prevention Programs

Stay on Track
Stay on Track is a comprehensive prevention program for 6th grade students delivered by trained National Guard Specialists from the Drug Deman Reduction Unit. The core curriculum includes:

  • Effects and consequences of drugs (alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, prescription drugs, and inhalants)
  • Dealing with stress
  • Decision making
  • Goal setting
  • Communication skills
  • Resisting peer pressure
  • Media influences
Drug & Alcohol Prevention Series for Middle School Education

This is a 3-part series for 7th grade students delivered by EPIC Community Services.  The series covers the dangers of marijuana use, smoking and alcohol (the top three drugs abused by St. Johns County middle school students).


High School Prevention Programs

Freshmen receive the required class Health Opportunities through Physical Education (HOPE), which is a comprehensive health and personal fitness class covering prevention topics.
