Media Releases: December 11, 2003
The St. Johns County School Board was recently recognized
as one of only seven (out of 67) school boards in the state
to achieve Certified Board status. This designation is
given when a majority of the Board has attained individual
certification.
In addition to Chairman Tommy Allen, Vice Chairman Diane
Lovell and District 1 Representative Beverly Slough are
also certified board members. Only 22 percent of School
Board members in the state have achieved this distinction.
Mrs. Lovell and Mrs. Slough were presented with the individual
award at the Florida School Boards Association 58th Annual
Joint Conference held last week in Tampa. This award is
given to Board members who earn 96 hours of credit for
learning in prescribed areas such as curriculum, planning,
policy, law, human resources, legislation and community.
