Evelyn Hamblen Center Open House
The Evelyn Hamblen Center provides an opportunity for any middle or high school
student to meet academic challenges. Parents who are interested having their
students attend the Evelyn Hamblen program for the 2003-2004 school year are
invited to an open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at the
center located at
1 Christopher Street. Students are also invited. The program is designed to
assist students who have been retained in a grade, are currently failing, have
low test scores or have been academically unsuccessful for other reasons.
Referrals are available at each of the middle and high school guidance offices.
Please contact the guidance office at your child’s school to see if he
or she qualifies. Each year registration is required for the following school
year for both new and current students. Parents are encouraged to register
students at their current school until acceptance notification at the Hamblen
Center has been confirmed. Students who are accepted into the program will
be notified during the summer.
Testing schedules for Bartram Trail High
School, Pedro Menendez High School, Nease High School and
St. Augustine High School have been coordinated so that
students at all four schools will have the same schedule.
During end-of-the-year exams, senior exams will be held at all four high schools
on May 19, 20 and 21. Make-up exams are scheduled for May 22 at all four high
schools and also on May 23 at St. Augustine High School.
Exams for underclassmen will be held May 22, 23 and 27, with make-up exams
scheduled for May 28. Students will attend school only for exams and typically
leave after lunch.
